Swift
4th St between Bowery and Lafayette
NYC NY
When this place first opened, I had very high hopes that it would become a
favorite and familiar hang. The decor is very lovely, from the
cathedral-style doors at the entrance, to the tapestried murals which
grace the walls. However, Swift's was soon overrun by a nasty contingent
of "suits" who get to the bar around happy hour and don't go home until
it's late and they're drunk as the proverbial skunk.
It's loud, boorish and crowded. Basically a McSorley's (without the
history) for 40 year-old frat types and the women who love them. Nice bar
staff, good beer.
